Soprano Kirila Kraal and pianist Daan Boertien form a lied duo since April 2015. They got to know each other through professor Margreet Honig who is also coaching them as a duo. Both Kirila and Daan completed their studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Kirila with baritone Pierre Mak and Daan with pianist David Kuyken. Their first recital together focussed on lieder of R. Strauss and was recorded for the radioprogramm Klankcafé in Arti Amsterdam. For the season 2015/2016 they are accepted for the Udo Reinemann International Masterclasses in Brussels, where they will have classes from masters such as Christianne Stotijn, Ann-Sofie von Otter and Julius Drake.

Daan Boertien finished his masters and  received the opportunity to follow masterclasses with Leslie Howard, Enrico Pace en Igor Roma.  In 2010 he won the 2nd price at the Prinses Christinaconcours and in 2011 he received at the Peter de Grote Festival in Groningen a Honorary Award for Outstanding Musicianship.
As a soloist Daan performed Rhapsody in Blue with the  Koninklijke Harmonie Cecilia and the 3rd pianoconcerto off Beethoven with the Philips Symfonieorkest.
He gives concerts regularly in the Netherlands and abroad.
Daan is coached for lied by David Bollen and  followed lessons with  Roger Vignoles, Jeff Cohen and Rudolf Jansen.
